Divergent Motion: Ash Dipert

October 20th - November 18th, 2023

Reception: October 20th, 6 pm - 8 pm

RAM is pleased to present Divergent Motion, a solo exhibition by Bakersfield-based interdisciplinary artist Ash Dipert, opening on October 20 and running through November 18, 2023. This presentation consists of furniture and everyday objects fabricated with delicate intention and awareness of form.

“As a mixed media artist, It's my job to push boundaries to find true originality. Something never before seen. I am testing the limits on how a certain material can be flexed and manipulated while challenging the limits of my capabilities as an artist, finding a balance on both while making something functional and appealing to the viewer. Most of my shapes and forms are based on our familiarity with patterns we see in nature. Having grown up overseas, My expression is rooted in non-conformity and not seeing the world through a lens of black and white. The grey areas that make up the distances between the contrasting materials and contrasting political environment we all live in.” -Joash Dipert

Ash Dipert is a woodworker and fabricator focused on creating bespoke sculptural furniture that draws from his travels and experiences. After working as a Visual Effects Compositor in Los Angeles, he returned to his roots with travel. Multiple round-the-world trips and whirlwind freight train adventures throughout the US led him to focus on furniture and its relationship with contemporary art.

In Ash's work, steel, brass, and wood objects are created to be compelling forms and represent motion, either in assembly or function. Learning many disciplines, from marquetry to CNC machining, has taught him how to push the boundaries of material. He aims to preserve the handmade marketplace and make objects that last and inspire.
