Join us for the Opening Reception of Stephen Winters: The Animal I Forgot I Was on August 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. The exhibition will be on view at RAM Gallery through October 10th.
The Animal I Forgot I Was explores the interconnectedness of humans and the natural world through painting, observation, and lived experience. Drawing from years spent immersed in the riverside ecosystem of the Kern River—as both an artist and a licensed falconer—Winters examines the relationships that bind all living systems. Through layered compositions that move between representation and abstraction, his work invites viewers to consider the shared structures connecting consciousness, matter, and the living world.
At the heart of the exhibition is a question: What part of ourselves have we forgotten by living as though we are separate from nature? This body of work offers an invitation to reconnect with our place within the broader ecology of life and remember our ancient relationship with the natural world.
Everyone is welcome. We are looking forward to seeing you!
Light refreshments will be served.
